The Green Man Gallery
Buxton Rotary Club Summer Fair
A stalwart of our calendar, the Buxton Rotary Club's Summer Fair and Charity Bazaar, is once more returning to the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens. We'll be there running a flowerpot person-making workshop.
Help us fill Buxton with flowerpots and come make a flowerpot person for the Buxton Flowerpot Trail - pick up pots to take home or stay and make. It takes about half an hour. Instructions and decorations available.
We are holding another shadow puppet making and performance workshop for the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery only this time the theme is Easter and Spring and it is being held at the Green Man Gallery (as the museum is still closed).
We are joining with the Agnew-Watson family to help host the launch event for a retrospective exhibition at the Green Man Gallery celebrating the work, talent and careers of the late Chris and Doug Agnew who were central to the High Peak community arts scene for decades.
On the night we will be creating a piece of puppet theatre using the puppets of Chris and Doug and mashing up all their shows...it will be absolute chaos and that's what we're going for! We need audience participants so come along for some creative mayhem.
For us, this is all in aid of recruiting new members to join Funny Wonders to help continue their legacy and keep the organisation going.
Join us for some shadow puppet-making and performing at the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery. These workshops are "Inspired by the Landscape". We'll be making puppets of creatures from the ancient Carboniferous Sea when the local limestone was created, prehistoric animals of the Ice Age which shaped the landscape, the historical inhabitants of Poole's Cavern and the present day wanderers out and about in the Peak District today.
